Longines Ref. 5528-1
A Longines from 1951, a time when Europeans slowly started to afford themselves some luxuries again. The dial and handset really tell the story of the decades that have passed since, in an attractive and charming way.
The case is beautifully thick and its rounded shapes give this watch a nice and fat look on the wrist. This is a 36mm case that wears more like a 38. So no worries if you are still getting adjusted to the smaller sizes of vintage watches.
This watch is often described as “Sei Tacche”. While that might sound exotic, it translates from Italian as “six notches”. This refers to the notches in the case back, where the proper tools allow entry into the case. Some rare vintage Longines have only three notches, earning them the nickname “Tre Tacche”.
If you are looking for a watch that really takes you back to days gone by, this beautiful Longines is worthy of your consideration.
