Cartier Santos Galbee Lady Ref. 1567
Many people know Cartier as said jewellery company, this is doing the brand a great and utter disservice. Cartier has been so prominent in the watch industry for over a hundred years. Most people think about the Cartier Tank when asked about a Cartier watch. Logically, this is the most popular watch in their catalogue. However, there is a Cartier watch with arguably more historical significance, meet the Cartier Santos!
As the story goes, in 1904, Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont complained to his friend Louis Cartier about the issues he encounters when using a pocket watch while flying. Louis Cartier thought about this complaint and the first Santos was born! With this birth, history was written, as it’s widely considered to be the first purpose-built wristwatch and certainly, the first pilot’s watch!
This specific Santos Galbe comes in perfect condition from about 2003. Which means that 25 years of constant development and re-imaginations eventually led up to this beautiful example. Completely executed in a 24 mm x 35 mm stainless steel / gold case and features a quartz movement.
