A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia ‘Big Date’ Ref. 105.025
Watchmaker A. Lange & Söhne was established in Glashütte, Saxony, by Ferdinand Adolph Lange in 1845. In the following 100 years, pocket watches by A. Lange were the most sought-after in the world. This lasted until the second world war put an end to the company. In 1990, Walter Lange, great-grandson of Ferdinand A. Lange resurrected the company, later bringing it under the Richemont Group umbrella. Today, the company employs 500 people, half of which watchmakers. They produce watches representative of modern German watchmaking in quality and finishing.
This Saxonia ref. 105.025 features the typical 33.9mm case executed in platinum. It is 9.1 mm thick and is an actual work of art. Take a closer look at the case back, specifically the three-quarter plate. It is made of untreated German silver, an alloy containing copper, nickel and zinc, traditionally used by Lange for all frame parts. The material is characterised by high stability and resistance to corrosion. In the course of time, it takes on a protective, gold-yellow patina and does not require any electrolytic anti-corrosive coating.
We are very happy to say that we are able to offer this watch dating back to 2000 with the 2022 service papers.
We would love to welcome you at Reestraat 3 Amsterdam.
