Omega Speedmaster Ref. ST376.0822 “Holy grail”

The Speedmaster ST 376.0822 is one of the rarest Speedies out there, with an estimated production of only 1500 pieces in 1987/88. This is why collector Chuck Maddox nick-named it the “Holy grail”.

While the case and general appearance might look familiar, there are numerous major differences between the Holy grail and the “regular” Professional. For starters, this one features an automatic, rather than a manually wound movement. While automatics might be prevalent in the smaller-cased Speedy Reduced, it is a rarity in the full-sized 42mm Speedmaster case.

The Cal. 1045 is a Lemania 5100 based movement, easily recognizable by its central chronograph minute counter, tucked away underneath the chronograph seconds hand. It also features a day and date complication at three o’clock. Many of these Holy grails had their dials replaced with slightly different service dials, somewhere along the road. This one is still proudly rocking its original dial.

This Holy grail comes on a 1171/1 bracelet with 633 end links, which was commonly fitted to Speedmasters until 1988. It also comes with Omega service papers and a two-year factory warranty.
