Longines Ephemerides Solaires 18K Ref: 5234 NOS

A special watch for a special occasion. (New Old Stock)

Dating back all the way to 1832, Longines is a seriously old watch manufacturer with a good story and heritage. It was 1889 when the Longines worldwide trademark was registered, something every big brand needs to do eventually. The brand Longines has had its ups and downs throughout its existence. The 1930s and 1940s were some serious glory days for the brand with impressive and innovative movements. The 1970s were not too good with the quartz crisis in the watch manufacturing business forcing them in the Swatch conglomerate eventually. The brand is still going strong today.

It was 1989 when this strange creature was born, marking the 100th birthday of the Longines trademark. As a brand with a big histroy, Longines wanted to put in some ingredients from their glory times when they produced precision watches for aviation and time measurement. 1200 pieces were made, 1000 stainless steel pieces and 200 gold ones, and we’ve got one!

This watch is full of tools, it displays both the sunrise and sunset above and below the equator, next to the day and date. You can even do the equation of time and measure the declination of the sun north and south of the equator… This watch is new, unworn, and only touched to be serviced. It is still equipped with its original new blue lizard strap and corded buckle. The revolving bezel has a manual lock system keeping places in time. This is such a piece you’ll either hate or love, but in NOS condition and with an original bag this might even be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
