The Ref. 168000 is a rare Submariner reference. It was only made for an estimated nine months spread over 1987 and 1988. It is the very first Submariner reference to feature 904L stainless steel rather than 316. This new steel is more resistant to acids than 316 and is the steel of choice for Rolex ever since. This reference succeeded the 16800 and was quickly followed up by the well-known Ref. 16610. A so-called transitional model.

This one comes on the original bracelet, but it has some wear to it. There is some stretch and some links have eaten into each other at the corners. It has been worn as a tool watch like this is supposed to be. We opted to leave it as is, and put a highly competitive price on the watch, rather than have it fully restored. It is perfectly fine for daily wear and if, after some time, you conclude that it is a little too much wear for your liking, there are specialists out there who can bring this type of wear back to perfect condition. But we decided to leave that option to its new owner and keep the price down. Of course, the movement has received a full service and comes with our two-year warranty.
