The Submariner that we offer you here is an early 14060, so with a Tritium dial. The robustness is dripping from it, a real diver with a vintage beating heart. A no date diver has a clean look, the sapphire glass lacks the Rolex cyclops (loupe) which in turn contributes to the “understated design”. But do not underestimate this model, the tritium has nicely discolored through the years. It is matching the pearl in the bezel also, this ‘tough guy’ has had a life..;)
In 1990 Rolex introduced reference 14060 as a step towards modern watches with a vintage look. The sapphire crystal, 300m water resistance and “triplock crown” are hallmarks of modern innovation and robustness, while the “2-line dials” are an “old school” reference to the past. Rolex replaced the caliber 1520 from the 5513 series with an updated caliber 3000 with a higher beat rate. Upgrading trough times, Rolex always looks for improvement.
For the lover of vintage Rolex watches, this watch is a great timepiece.
