Rolex GMT-Master II Ref. 16710 B+P
Who wants a Coke?
Stainless steel Rolex watches are more popular than ever. Since a few years, there’s a new type of consumer on the watch market, the ‘investor’. A lot of people are simply looking to buy any stainless sports model with the famous crown since they started to care more about the status and value appreciation of the product rather than the looks of it. A rather sad development for the market, prices going up with less and less true watch enthusiasts actually buying. Because of this trend, the pleasure only becomes bigger to us when we receive a good stainless steel model in the store which is as likely to go to a real enthusiast as to an investor.
This GMT-master II is from 1990. The GMT-master was introduced in the 1950s with a function for a second timezone which may come in handy to pilots, and it was an instant success. At the moment the GMT-master might even be the most desired Rolex model out there with the modern Pepsi and Batman(girl) colourways. However, only the pre-ceramic pieces had the beautiful Coke bezel insert for an option, which is one of the reasons why to pick this piece. The aluminum bezel insert is way more elegant than the modern flashy ceramics and new it is simply not available. If you ask us, a tritium dial beats a luminova one any day of the week and this its this generation of the GMT-Master which may wear the most comfortable of them all.
This 1990 GMT is in great condition, definitely considering its age. The original jubilee bracelet has very little stretch, the lugs are fat and both the case and bracelet show no big dents or chunks in them. To make this piece even better, both the original box and papers are included. Feel free to visit our store or contact us by any means. We’re located in the Reestraat, Amsterdam.
