Rolex Date Ref. 1500 ‘Obelisk dial’

Often in vintage watches, the power is in the dial. That is certainly the case with this Rolex Date Ref. 1500 from 1965.

Silver dials in all sorts of slight variations are common. But this is not silver. This is a matte, snowy white. It is so matte that it almost resembles paper. But that is not all. This is also an “Obelisk dial”. Have a close look at the markers at six and nine. They resemble an obelisk and are beautifully faceted.

This is one of those vintage Rolex watches of which you will not run into a second one anytime soon. Subtle, understated, and with a rare dial in great condition. What else is there to be desired?
