A beautifully clean and timeless Rolex Date Ref. 1500, with two rather special features: a gilt dial and dauphine hands!

Gilt dials are in high demand among collectors. While most dials are a base color with painted lettering, a gilt dial is made the other way around. A blank metal dial has its negative space painted, leaving the lettering blank. This means the text is actually deeper than the black background, or should we say “foreground”? Rolex stopped making these in the sixties, making them extremely rare and coveted.

Adding to that the dauphine hands, rather than the usual batons, makes for a slightly more classical look. All in all a stunning Date for people who know their vintage Rolex!
