Rolex Day-Date Ref. 1811
The references 1811 is a very rare reference for the Rolex Day-Date. The four-digit Day-Date reference is always equipped with plexiglass and a so-called ‘pie-pan’ dial. What makes this Day-Date so special is the finish of the bezel. This finish is called ‘Morrelis’ or ‘Moire’. The most common reference of the four-digit Day-Date is 1803 which has a ‘fluted’ bezel. The ivory-colored dial has a black print and beautiful ‘baton’ shaped imposed indexes and hands. The production year of this Day-date is around 1966 and it appears that this reference first appeared in a Rolex brochure from 1966. It is suspected that not many copies of this reference have been made. Exactly how much, we will never know.
What a beautiful implementation this is. Chic to wear with a suit or by a lady with a matching dress… Well, of course, you decide for yourself. Come and see the watch live.
