Omega Speedmaster Ref. 3592.50 B+P

A vintage Speedmaster with display back.

50 Years after the Omega Speedmaster was taken to the moon and back, the watch has become a true icon among watch enthusiasts. Try to think of a watch with a better story than the story of the Speedmaster… That’s right, this actually is the coolest story of them all. Only the best chronograph watches were tested by NASA under various challenging circumstances to find out which one was the best. The Speedmaster came out ahead and the rest is history.

After the Apollo XI mission to the moon, the Speedmaster became incredibly popular. The development of the Speedmaster was more prioritized when it became more desired. The result? Many different Speedmasters have seen the light of day, and the one we’re offering is a fine vintage piece.

It was 1980 when the first Speedmaster with crystal case back was brought on the market. This was a numbered watch with gold elements and the 861L-movement, this meant a more luxury finish visible through the case back. Until 1989 Speedmasters with crystal case backs were rare and numbered, and therefore not easy to find. In 1989 this changed when a new reference was added to the collection with crystal back available to anyone.

What makes this Speedmaster unique? From 1995 till 1997 Omega used the 863-movement with extra gilt parts and one extra jewel; 18 instead of 17, this goes combined with a new crystal case back which was produced for just 2.5 years. The Speedmaster 3592.50 was the last reference which still had the tritium dial and hands, which is to many watch fanatics a requirement for a watch to be a vintage piece. This is very understandable when you see the nice the patina this watch has developed instead of staying pale.

This nice Speedy comes with box and papers and is now available. Visit our store or contact us by any means for more information. We’re located in the Reestraat, Amsterdam.
