Omega Speedmaster Ref. 145.012-67

Fly me to the moon

The Omega Speedmaster has without a doubt one of the best stories of all wristwatches of all time. The manual chronograph was introduced in 1957 and in the 12 years that followed it already became a legendary watch. Not only was it the first watch in space thanks to Ed White, in 1969 the Omega Speedmaster was the selected watch to accompany Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin during the Apollo XI mission to the moon and back.

The Speedmaster you’re looking at is from just before the Moonmission; 1968. The pre-moon Speedmasters are powered by the cal. 321 and so is this piece. There are other characteristics which connaisseurs would like to see on such a watch, like the right dial and hands. This piece has the right stepped dial with applique logo combined with the original hands. The color of the tritium is best described as off-white with a hint of yellow, in person it is not pale like in some of the pictures. The original DON-bezel has a few small spots of wear but completes the authentic look and feel of this Speedy.
