Omega Speedmaster Gemini IV 1129/2005

Here is a special, limited Omega Speedmaster to celebrate an important day in space traveling history.

The Speedmaster Gemini 4 was released in 2005 in a limited and numbered run of 2005 pieces. On offer here is number 680. The G4 adds a dash of color to the normally monochrome Speedmaster color-scheme. The show stopper is an iridescent blue dial with contrasting silver subdials. A blue anodized aluminum bezel completes a very different look for this otherwise familiar Speedy. Depending on the light the dial goes from almost black, via denim blue to almost purplish-blue. A real stunner!

If you look closely, you will spot a red line of text reading 1965-2005. A small nod to this watch’s raison d’etre. It celebrates the 40th anniversary of the very first spacewalk. Back in 1965, astronaut Ed White was the very first human to go on an extra-vehicular spacewalk during a mission labeled Gemini 4. The mission was executed under commander James McDivitt. Both names are featured on the special red case back of this Speedmaster.

With only 2005 pieces made, this is one of those rare limited editions that are extremely collectible. Especially since this particular example is complete with the original box and certificate and in absolutely stunning condition.
